Whether you prefer an Earl Grey, English breakfast or Darjeeling … the Brewery’s new season offers a diverse mix of music genres, top comedians and cutting-edge theatre to suit all tastes.
The music acts come fresh from their festival tours while the theatre and comedy acts have been busy honing their performances at the Edinburgh Fringe, all fresh to delight and amaze audiences.
The Brewery has worked hard to attract this season’s innovative theatre productions which include top-class magician and TV regular Pete Firman with his new show ‘Marvels’. Expect laugh out loud comedy with jaw-dropping magic.
Ellie Dubois, ‘No Show’ is a circus spectacular with glitzy smiles, the glitter of sequins, drum rolls as performers who seem superhuman effortlessly perform death-defying acts. ‘No Show’ joyously and heartbreakingly reveals what lies beneath the showmanship.
The Knotted Project, the Brewery’s very own emerging company present a stunning physical theatre show ‘The Commuters’. Following a group of friends through the world of work, stuck in the void between their bank balances and diminishing social lives, they search for their elusive ‘work-life balance’?
Gordon Steel’s powerful, poignant and hilarious new play ‘The Fulstow Boys’ brings two-time frames and monumental decisions to the Brewery’s stage. Both heartbreaking and hilarious, watch as all hell breaks loose in a small village in Lincolnshire.
Brian Clough, trys to redeem his managerial career and reputation with a team he openly despises, the team he hates and hates him, in Red Ladder’s theatre production of ‘The Damned‘.
The Brewery brings back its ‘Pay What You Decide’ offer which includes performances from Sonya Moorhead in her show ‘Feral’ where she empowers audiences to make wilder life choices. ‘Let Me Look At You’ by company Starving Artists, is a hilarious and touching personal story of a 50-year-old gay man, as he quietly has a breakdown as a result of his misadventures. The Brewery’s third ‘pay what you decide’ show is Rachel Mars’s ‘Our Carnal Hearts’ a hilarious dark show that celebrates envy, competitive spirits and all the times we f*ck each other over.
The seasons’ diverse Music line-up includes nineties hit-makers, post-punk legends, world folk icons and UK Jazz giants …. You want variety? The Brewery’s got variety!
One of England’s most influential folk singer and songwriters Martin Carthy, who inspired contemporaries such as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, returns to the Brewery, since receiving his Lifetime achievement award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Also returning, on their 40th-anniversary celebration tour, is the Oyster Band, with songs from every era of their long and illustrious career. The iconic folk band has won Best Traditional Song, Best Album and Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Ragged Kingdom.
Brewery favourite, and Jazz giant Courtney Pine, has joined forces with UK soul star Omar, who shot to fame when he reached number 14 in the UK charts in 1991 with ‘There’s nothing like this’. This exciting duo is set to bring something fresh and new to the Malt room.
Nick Mulvey, the former member of Portico Quartet, brings his intimate solo tour to the Brewery with his new ‘Dancing for the Answers’ EP and single ‘In your hands’.
New music talent includes an intense indie-rock band The Wytches, the trio has been tipped for the top with their powerful garage sound.
Stage on Screen at the Brewery welcomes classic and contemporary adaptations of well-loved productions which include Funny Girl, the Musical starring famed actor Sheridan Smith. The very same musical that, 50 years, ago shot Barbara Streisand to fame and boasts some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history, including ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’.
The National Theatre presents King Lear where Ian McKellen depicts the gradual descent into the madness of the King. ‘Ian McKellen reigns supreme in this triumphant production.’ ***** Daily Telegraph.
Fresh from Edinburgh to the Brewery is a range of famous and well-loved comedians. Zoe Lyons presents her stand up show ‘Entry Level Human’ reviewed by the Guardian as a ‘hugely enjoyable mix of brutal putdowns and richly funny stores, Lyons has what it takes to delight any crowd.’
The undisputable heavyweight Champion of comedy chaos, Jason Byrne returns with his new show ‘You can come in but don’t start anything’.
Kathy Lette, author and feminist leads a psychological striptease from puberty to menopause with her show ‘Girls Night Out’.
Irish funnyman Jimeoin rocks up to the Brewery fresh from his smash-hit New York off-Broadway season with his latest sell-out tour, ‘Result‘.
This season, at the Brewery, is everyone’s cup of tea, with the eclectic mix of theatre, stage on-screen, music and comedy it is set to be one of their most varied seasons yet! Also now with no booking fee on tickets this not for profit organisation is set to have one of its busiest seasons yet.
