Brewery Arts’ flagship youth theatre company, this class is perfect for young people who are passionate about theatre and performing, committed to productions, and looking to develop professional skills and techniques… Whilst still having lots of fun! The aim of Brewery Youth Theatre is to help young performers to be the best they can be.
Previously, the class has been selected to participate in the prestigious National Theatre Connections Festival, which involved working towards professional performances at Brewery Arts and a regional partner theatre in the North West.

What do I need to bring with me?
Please come in comfortable clothes that you can move in and bring your own water. You will be given your own script to look after and bring to each session.
Important information
There are no sessions during the weeks beginning 28 October (half term) and 18 November (Kendal Mountain Festival).
About the Tutor
BYT sessions are facilitated and led by Claire Williams and guest facilitators, including the Knotted Project, who will be working with BYT 15+ during the Spring and Summer Term.
Claire is a theatre and arts professional who specialises in community and family-led programming, producing and facilitation with training and qualifications in both community delivery and theatre. She is well known to our young people as our previous Learning and Engagement Manager and has been leading the Youth Theatre since September 2023.
She’s been facilitating Youth Theatres and Young Companies for around 15 years including work for and with Pound Arts Wiltshire, Everyman Theatre Cheltenham, Bath Festivals & Wiltshire Creative (Salisbury Playhouse / Art Centre).
Alongside leading our Youth Theatre, Claire is currently Community and Engagement Manager for Theatre by the Lake alongside being an active freelance programmer, producer and facilitator for theatres and mixed arts organisations all over the country.
She is particularly passionate about art and theatre in unusual and public spaces and her outdoor theatre and live installation work has been presented in spaces nationally including work for and with The National Trust, Larmer Tree, Greenman, End of the Road, Just So, Lunar, Coro, Cornbury, Wychwood and Blue Sky. Her own practice has been supported by Outdoor Arts UK and Arts Council England.

Audio Description (AD) is available in Screen 1. Infrared audio system is available in both Cinema Screens 1 and 2. Induction loops (T) are in place in the Theatre, please ask for assistance on the door.
Some live events may carry strict age restrictions, these are outlined on our website. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times during evening events.
