Described by contemporary music bible Pitchfork as having “heaven in her voice and earthbound epiphanies in her words”, Irish singer-songwriter Brigid Mae Power blends traditional folk with modern dream-pop to form a new music that is both familiar and deeply rooted in folk tradition, yet also undeniably new and otherworldly.

With a voice that resonates deeply and her intricate blend of traditional and modern soundscapes, Brigid has etched a unique mark on the contemporary folk scene. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen and Fire Records stablemate Jane Weaver, hers is a sound that re-imagines what folk music means.

Modern folk for modern folk, Brigid’s evocative vocals alongside strings, steel guitar, horns and mellotron add to the baroque loveliness whilst waving back at her rootsy past, daubing new colours on a much-loved canvas.

Politically primed and socially aware, the Irish musician has found power in her extraordinary voice and been able to embroider into a musical tapestry that’s melancholy and wonderfully consuming.

Released on the legendary indie label Fire Records, her new LP Dream from the Deep Well is out now.
