Get ready to shake off those winter blues this February at Brewery Arts!

Powerhouse performers Urban Voodoo Machine light up the Malt Room stage and breathtaking string sensations, Rant, do their sweet thing. We unveil some real treats in the cinema too – The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme features a different film every Saturday through February, with a very special Premiere of Mondays: See You ‘This’ Week! setting it off.

Continuing to elevate things this month, Daliso Chaponda brings all the laughter to lighten our moods. Equally Uplifting is the bonkers Morgan and West’s Massive Magic Show for Kids. Enjoy all this and more in our exciting February programme of events in live music, comedy, visual arts and more.

Live Music

Colosseum

One of the most influential bands of early British progressive rock, formed originally in 1968, Colosseum fuse an adventurous approach to rock with strong jazz and blues influences.

Back again, Under the motto “The Return Of The Legend”, the originals from Live ’71 – Chris Farlowe, Clem Clempson & Mark Clarke were joined by Malcolm Mortimore on Drums, Nick Steed on Keyboards and Kim Nishikawara on Saxophone. The new line-up presents Colosseum classics such as “Lost Angeles” & the “Valentyne Suite” as well as songs from their highly-acclaimed new studio album, “Restoration”.

Vacant Weekend are an alt-pop trio from Cumbria, currently based in Manchester. The three friends met in school and were bound together immediately, finding comfort in jamming and performing music together. The band in its current iteration was formed in 2018 and took inspiration from disco, Motown, and noughties indie-rock like Two Door Cinema Club and The Wombats. Now they have carved out their own niche that can loosely be described as funk-inspired, groove-focused, cathartic indie rock.

It’s two years since CONNECTIVITY (2021) smashed into the top 40 and debuted at #1 in the UK download chart, propelling the fiercely independent GRACE PETRIE from critics’ choice to the main stages of major festivals and venues across Europe, Australia and Canada, mesmerising audiences with the ferocity of her socially urgent lyricism and the barnstorming power of her live show.

Drawing on the wealth of peculiar episodes from both Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, Box Tale Soup invite you down the rabbit hole into a timeless world of wondrous fantasy.

Carroll’s Wonderland floods onto the stage in a whirl of strange contraptions and curious characters. No matter how young or old, everyone will find their own moment of magic in Wonderland and make it safely home again – the only danger is, you may not want to leave!

Feed This Black Man Again

Daliso did his first show Feed This Black Man 20 years ago. 20 years later, Daliso has done all sorts of things the 22-year-old Chaponda would never have imagined possible.

Feed This Black Man Again is a do-over, as the now widely-loved comic revisits the themes of that debut show with the considerably enhanced comic talents that two decades’ experience brings you. He examines the huge differences between the way you think life will be at twenty, and the reality.

Cinema & Stage On Screen

The long-anticipated All of Us Strangers graces our screens in February, starring Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.

Also just announced is a brand-new season of National Theatre Live, featuring titles such as Dear England, starring Joseph Fiennes, and the radical Vanya with another appearance from the brilliant Andrew Scott.

Complete the Stage On Screen experience with Prosecco and Canapés, available to enjoy during the interval of selected screenings.

Based in Cumbria, UK, acclaimed artist Daniel Cooper responds with highly emotional expressions to the sublime weather in the Lake District National Park and Cumbrian landscape, home to arguably some of the most beautiful views in England. Using charcoal and mixed media, Cooper observes reality imaginatively and aims to communicate the ever-changing moods of the land and skies through personal involvement with the landscape.
