Epic pop pioneers My Life Story hit Brewery Arts to celebrate 25 years since the release Joined Up Talking, their critically acclaimed 3rd L.P, where they will be performing the album in full.
My Life Story and their creator, composer and frontman Jake Shillingford were a pioneering force in the Britpop movement inspiring the era’s orchestral identity.
They continue to be a huge favourite on the live circuit with their flamboyant shows and loyal following.
The band scored 6 Top 40 hits, including 12 Reasons Why I Love Her, Sparkle and It’s a Girl Thing, described by Melody Maker at the time as: “Satisfying escapism. Taking life’s mundanities and making them magical.” While Smash Hits said: “12 Reasons Why” is the best pop single of last year not to feature the Spice Girls.”
This concert is a great opportunity to hear fan favourite tracks from Joined Up Talking, some of which haven’t been heard live for over 2 decades as well as a greatest hits set.
The band collaborated with a number of artists, notably Marc Almond, The Specials, Giles Martin, Morrissey & Siouxsie Sioux. Jake even recorded Adele when she was just 11 years old.
The band performed on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage, Reading Festival (four times) and at many other major European festivals. They supported Blur, Pulp, The Wonderstuff and are one of the only bands to headline over Oasis.
