Kendal’s newest jazz club launches this summer! Brewery Arts’ Malt Room will be transformed into an intimate, atmospheric venue, showcasing top emerging jazz talent from across the UK. Kicking off the series, Manchester band Nonunonu takes the stage on 5 June.
Nonunonu, came onto the scene in 2019 with a captivating blend of intricate compositions and electrifying improvisation. They’ve carved their path in the evolving jazz scene: with two UK tours, slots at prestigious festivals like Manchester Jazz and International Festivals, and supporting the likes of Jasmine Myra, Secret Night Gang and Xhosa Cole.
Jazz Club will present a curated lineup of the best jazz artists throughout the year. This autumn, Will James takes the stage. A rising talent in the UK music scene, he blends blues, jazz, and soul, earning praise for his “inspired collections of modern blues” (Blues in Britain, Jan 2023). On stage, Will’s passionate live performances are a throwback to the greats of old where everything is laid bare. He and his Quartet have gained a stellar live reputation on the London scene also supporting Razorlight & Dire Straits (John Illsley) back in 2023.
Eleanor Colee will close out the year as the headliner at the Winter Jazz Club. Eleanor Colee is a saxophonist and composer based in Glasgow, currently completing their masters in Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Originally from the North West of England, Eleanor’s music is shaped by the vibrant and diverse sounds of both Manchester and Glasgow, blending contemporary and spiritual jazz with folk-inspired elements. Her writing is an introspective exploration from her personal experiences and challenges, whilst also taking inspiration from the likes of Pharoah Sanders and Nubya Garcia.
Eleanor is currently touring with Caoilfhionn Rose on her 2024/25 UK and European tour and has collaborated with an array of musicians from the UK scene including Rory A. Green and Rumbi Tauro. Eleanor is now excited to be performing her new and original material with their incredibly talented band.

Brewery Arts’ Programme Manager, Charlotte Tasker says “With huge admiration from our audiences since our recent Spring Jazz campaign, we felt it was the perfect time to deliver an established line-up for the rest of 2025, featuring the finest upcoming artists around the UK who skilfully master a reimagined art. Come and experience the sounds of nu-jazz, modern blues, and saxophone romanticism.”
