Our 2025 May Highlights

As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, we’ve got more events, workshops, live gigs, cinema and food for you to enjoy as the sun shines!

We have some amazing live gigs coming your way. Kicking us off on 3 May are PorkPieScotland’s 9-piece ska powerhouse, so get ready for a night of epic high-energy performances!  If you enjoy a more contemplative pace, Iona Lane is taking the stage on 29 May with local support from Anne-Marie Sanderson. Iona weaves stories of ecology, conservation and folklore into poetic songs and beautiful melodies.

For theatre fans, we’ve got an exciting selection of event cinema coming your way! On 21 May we’re showing Michelangelo’s Love & Death, a film which brings the spectacular sculptures and paintings of Michelangelo to life. For fans of musical theatre we’re showing the spectacular Ballet to Broadway: Wheeldon Works on 22 May.

Critically acclaimed comedian Jamali Maddix is back on the road with a brand new tour and heading to Brewery Arts on 31 May. “He’s a gifted and easily warmed-to standup, who blends anecdotes… with sharp and speedy audience interaction.” The Independent

Our new season of Creative Learning courses and workshops is here! Join us this summer as we explore the beauty of light through creativity. We’ve added more classes and workshops for you to enjoy. So gather your friends and come together to learn new techniques across the art forms.

Stage on Screen

Be transported to some of the world’s most prestigious stages and get a front row seat to experience the magic of on-stage storytelling.

On 1 May, experience Mozart’s timeless comedy, Le Nozze di Figaro, with a live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera.

Recorded live at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, discover the electrifying story of love, adventure and crime that captured the attention of an entire nation in Bonnie & Clyde The Musical on 7 May.

On 14 May, The Royal Opera Die Walkure tells of a stormy night, when fate brings two strangers together, unleashing a love with the power to end worlds. It’s going to be spectacular!

Farm Boy

Michael Morpurgo’s compelling sequel to ‘War Horse’ returns to the stage in this delightful, family-friendly show combining drama, storytelling, and original music.

Kendal College: Everybody’s Talking About Jamie!

This musical sensation will captivate the whole family equally and you should not miss it! The show is performed and produced by the especially talented Theatre Arts students from Kendal College.

Creative Learning

The new Creative Learning season starts from 29 April. As well as our usual programme, we’ve added a selection of new courses and workshops which will expand your artistic horizons.

Explore the stories of your life using writing tools, tricks, and games in Self Portrait With Words with poet Ann Grant. Discover the art of lyric-driven songwriting and develop your ability to tell stories through song in our Storytelling in Song course with musician Anne-Marie Sanderson. For aspiring authors, hone your voice and craft as a writer in our Exploring Fiction course with author Simon Sylvester.

Bring your toddlers along to our Mini Makers and Mini Movers sessions. These classes are a great opportunity for kids to expand their imagination, develop new skills and experiment with lots of different materials, movement and techniques!

We have movement classes for adults which are perfect for beginners or if you are looking for a space to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our weekly classes include Get Moving (18+ yrs) and Mature Movers (60+yrs).

Brewery Arts Open Exhibition 2025

Our annual exhibition showcases the talent of local artists, with artwork selected from our open submission.

Submission deadline: Fri 18 April

Applications are currently open for our first-ever Brewery Arts Young Artists Open Exhibition 2025!

Open to all local young artists aged 4-18yrs. It is free to enter and selected works will be exhibited in the Brewery Arts Sugar Store Gallery from 25 July – 13 September 2025.

We’ve got some delicious specials for you this week! We’re expanding our daytime menu, with new dishes such as our Brewery Ploughman’s spread and Brewery Vegan Mezze.

Our evening specials include a Middle Eastern Salad and a Tandoor Chicken Pizza. Fancy something fruity to wash it down? Enjoy one of our cocktail specials, we’re serving up Enzonis and BA Long Island Iced Teas.
