Last month, hundreds of children from across South Lakeland performed on our stage for Brewery Arts Schools Dance Platform. We have hosted this special event for many years and have seen thousands of young creatives take part. Our team is committed to working with creative young people to help them fulfil their potential and we were delighted to be able to host Dance Platform again this year.
Brewery Arts Schools Dance Platform is a non-competitive and inclusive celebration of dance, featuring pieces created by local Primary, Secondary and SEN schools, in addition to Brewery Youth Dance groups. The event was a part of U.Dance, a national programme providing performance opportunities for young people. Brewery Youth Dance groups performed new pieces, including a dance created for the regional U.Dance festival hosted by The Lowry.
The Dance Platform showcased the work of twenty nine schools groups, including a range of themes and styles inspired by both fun and serious topics. Eleven schools worked with a Brewery Dance Artist to create their pieces, taking part in workshops to learn new skills and develop material that often tied in with curriculum work.
