We are happy to announce the Brewery Arts Centre will be re-opening in late summer with a raft of exciting re-opening news and events to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Brewery has been part of the Kendal landscape for more than forty years and the multi-purpose site houses a wide range of cultural and art events, workshops, education programmes, cinema screens, restaurants, cafes and bars. Since lockdown our community and learning programmes have continued online but the entire diversely used site has been closed to the public. However, work has been happening behind the scenes and major renovations have been brought forward to make the most of this forced quiet time and will soon be unveiled.

Restaurants, pubs and cinemas can officially re-open from 4th July and Government guidance for opening safely has just been published. Our CEO Miriam Randall explained why the Brewery Arts Centre has chosen a later date;

“It is fantastic to see businesses preparing to re-open on July 4th and we wish them all the very best. All of us at the Brewery are eager to open our doors again, but the time is not quite right for us just yet. We have used the closure to bring forward major renovations such as upgrading our events, education and hospitality spaces. In addition, we are making our venue and working practices safe for a post-lockdown environment, installing contactless ticketing, doors and taps, new routes through the building, and robust training for staff. We will be sharing our exciting plans and changes with you in the coming weeks and look forward to welcoming you back to a rejuvenated Brewery later this summer. It’s really important to us that when we open we are not only as fully prepared as possible but the Brewery offers even more than it did before in a safe environment fit for the future”.
