Artseen is the perfect course for young creatives wanting to take their art practice to the next level. A wide-ranging group of local professional artists will inspire and expand your skills and imaginations with in-depth knowledge of new techniques and processes.
Amy Williams, Helena MacGregor, Liam Collins and Sophie Martin are all successful practising professional artists, covering a wide range of specialisms, who are ready to open your mind and guide you on your artistic path.

What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
The class will explore professional art skills including drawing, printmaking and dark room photography and other mediums at a higher level. Tutors will arrange their specialisms over the term to complement each other’s skills and will incorporate the unique interests and talents of the group.
Who is it suitable for?
All art lovers welcome. For young people who may wish to study Art as a subject at college or university, for those wanting to extend their skill sets, or for those who just love art and want to dig deeper into the subject and meet others with a similar passion.
What do I need to bring?
All equipment will be provided.

Please note – there are no classes during the weeks beginning 28 October (half term) and 18 November (Kendal Mountain Festival).

About the tutors
Amy Williams is a professional artist and experienced facilitator known for her inspiring large scale paper installations. She has delivered significant commissions for Blackwell Arts and Crafts, Rheged and Lowther Castle, as well as album artwork and group exhibitions across the UK. Amy has a BA (Hons) in Sculpture and an MA in Illustration and has recently been awarded Arts Council funding to develop her practice. She enjoys delivering projects within the local community and developing creativity in others.
Sophie Martin is an artist, illustrator and educator who specialises in lively pen and watercolour illustrations often drawn on location. She studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art and has worked since as a freelance artist and illustrator undertaking numerous commissions and exhibiting locally and further afield as well as self-publishing a number of books. Sophie enjoys experimenting with a variety of different artistic mediums and is always looking for new techniques to try out and share in her creative classes. She has a PGCE in Post compulsory education and has experience running creative workshops in many places including schools, colleges, adult education centres and for refugee groups in India and Nepal.
Helena McGregor is a visual artist, specialising in printmaking, and a qualified Secondary Art and Design Practitioner with over 10 years of experience in UK and International Schools, teaching 11-18-year-olds in a range of creative subjects. She also has experience in teaching Primary Art, running art CPD sessions and adult art workshops. Helena is also part of our Creative Learning team at Brewery Arts.
Liam Collins is an award winning photographer currently working on long term documentary projects photographing folk traditions and festivals in the United Kingdom. He has previously taught Film Production, Art & Design and Photography at Kendal College. His worked has been exhibited in solo and group shows both nationally and internationally.
