This class has a strong foundation in contemporary dance, exploring creative movement, choreography, technique and performance. It is perfect for dancers looking to widen their knowledge and experience of dance.
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
This group focuses on creating dance work for performance. As part of the class, participants will learn a piece to be performed on the Brewery Arts stage, and also to be submitted to be performed at other festivals and theatres locally, regionally and nationally. Brewery Youth Dance is the Brewery Arts flagship youth dance group that has kick-started the careers of many talented dancers.

Important information
There are no sessions during the weeks beginning 28 October (half term) and 18 November (Kendal Mountain Festival).
What do I need to bring with me?
Please come ready to dance in comfortable clothes that you can move in, long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed. Bring your own water in a bottle.
Are there any additional costs?
The group may participate in external events which charge a fee for participating and advanced notice will be given to young people and their parents.
About the tutor
A previous Brewery Youth member, Emily Davies has been delivering sessions at Brewery Arts, and other settings, since gaining her Dance degree in 2016. She enjoys sharing her love of dance with those she teaches. Emily’s style of movement is grounded in contemporary technique, creative dance and connecting with people, be that in the studio or with an audience.

Audio Description (AD) is available in Screen 1. Infrared audio system is available in both Cinema Screens 1 and 2. Induction loops (T) are in place in the Theatre, please ask for assistance on the door.
Some live events may carry strict age restrictions, these are outlined on our website. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times during evening events.
