An Intensive day of being fully immersed in the digital music production process. With expert practical guidance, using industry standard software and recording tools, learn how to use samples and beats to make soundscapes and songs. We will make music together using Ableton, learning how to create sounds and record, using production techniques and our own creative ideas to have fun and make noise!
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
An introduction to ableton, music production, creating music and how to explore our own ideas and build confidence in creativity. The class will be taught in a practical immersive way, where we learn by doing and making. You will be introduced to the Digital Audio Workstation, you will build sound ideas together, and you will dive into production, developing sounds into a piece of music (or song)
Who is it suitable for?
Adult workshop. If you’ve always had melodies and rhythms you’ve wanted to capture, or if you want to explore a new sonic creative practice and meet people on a similar journey, this is your chance to dive in headfirst and see where it leads. Complete beginners welcome, and those who wish to build their confidence, to refresh their skills, or to collaborate with others.
What do I need to bring?
An open mind and a phone, tablet or notebook for gathering notes. Instruments and voices also welcome!

About the tutor
Tiiva is a producer, remix artist and songwriter who has been featured by Radio 1, Clash and Spotify’s New music Friday, co writing and producing with several artists and writing music for organisations including The Tate Modern, Vice and NY Fashion Week.
They recently composed music for a dance performance, commissioned by Move, Manchester, as well as collaborating with digital artists Liing Heaney and Andrea Khora. As well as working within electronic music, Tiiva uses their instrumental skills on piano, violin, guitar and voice to compose and create sound design. They are currently working on an album of music using audio samples recorded in caves, mountains and by rivers in the Lake District to create a body of work due for release in 2025. Tiiva is experienced at nurturing creative curiosities in a real range of experience and abilities.
