This workshop will guide participants through the entire process of film photography, including: 

  • Loading film. 
  • Understanding and using aperture and shutter speed for correct exposures. 
  • Processing black-and-white film in the darkroom. 
  • Enlarging and printing negatives into finished prints.

Teaching will be hands-on and practical, with time spent both learning camera functions and working in the darkroom to create your own prints. 

Who is it suitable for?   

Introduction To The Dark Room workshop is designed for beginners and those who want to generally refresh their film photography and darkroom skills. 

What do I need to bring?  

A 35mm or medium format film camera, if you don’t own one, please let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to provide a camera for you. 

Are there any additional costs? 

No, all materials and chemicals are included in the course fee. 

About the tutor

Liam Collins is a local photographer. In particular, he has an interest in landscape, street and experimental photography. He is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited in solo and group shows both nationally and internationally.
