Steeleye Span

Doors 7.30pm | Tickets £35 | Theatre

Together for fifty-five years now, Steeleye Span changed the face of folk music forever. They have taken it into the world of gold discs and international tours. The new album, The Green Man Collection, brings together tracks from their recent releases. It also features new versions of three classics, including a reworking of “Hard Times” with Status Quo’s Francis Rossi. Additionally, the album includes a cover of Elvis Costello’s “Shipbuilding” and the title track. The title track is a previously lost Bob Johnson song from the 1980s. For this tour, their first live dates of the year, they will be joined by new violinist Athena Octavia.

The band’s recent UK tour introduced a new seven-piece line-up. Roger Carey joined on bass, while Benji Kirkpatrick – whose father, John, enjoyed two successful stints with the band and played on many of their classic albums – added bouzouki, acoustic guitar, and vocals. With the future of this famous band in such capable hands, the shows breathe life into a selection of famous songs, revisit hidden gems from their long career, and feature tracks from the new album.

When you come to a Steeleye Span show, you can expect to hear many familiar classics alongside gems both old and new. They will all be delivered with a burning passion and unrivalled experience.

As ever – and with such a rich history to choose from – the night with Steeleye Span will offer a selection of songs from across the years and firm fan favourites!
